YARROW RANCHLAND SAUNA
PROJECT MANAGER
with Jean Fortier
Set in the foothills of the stunning Canadian Rockies, the Yarrow Ranchland Sauna was developed and designed in conjunction with jcgf atelier. As the project manager, I reviewed and commented on the design, providing guidelines and direction to the architect. From choosing clear aspen wood sourced from a local lumber mill for the interior of the sauna, to designing custom lighting features, to siting the footprint of the building in order to take maximum advantage of the views to the west, I was involved in all design decisions. The resulting stand-alone structure provides a contemplative space, separated from the main ranch house and barn, to relax and rejuvenate after a day of horseback riding in the summer or a day of cross-country skiing in the winter.
