RIVER HALL YYC
PROJECT MANAGER
Working with Belleville Placemaking, Îlot 84 and Aire Commune Productions as part of the City of Calgary’s efforts to increase downtown vibrancy, a free five-week event series was developed to provide a variety of inclusive, family-friendly programming in the heart of the city. The So Long Summer Series transformed a portion of Lot 6 - a surface parking lot - into River Hall. This semi-permanent gathering space launched as a place for Calgarians to enjoy a blend of all-ages entertainment, dining and relaxation in a welcoming, community-driven atmosphere.
The downtown west end transformation continues as the first office to residential conversion project opened its doors to residents just prior to the event series. Part of the goal for River Hall is creating a neighbourhood with active streets and well-used public spaces; a place where people feel safe and welcome; a “backyard” for residents. Creating engaging experiences and dynamic public spaces builds community, fosters creativity, and stimulates economic growth in downtown.
