CANDY CANE CHRISTMAS TREE

with Kate Zago

While the holidays can often be a difficult time, this candy cane tree was meant to bring a moment of joy into park users’ days. Through inviting passerby to grab a candy cane (or two!), the season of giving was embraced and people were encouraged to pass along a treat to their friends and families. Within a couple weeks, most of the candy canes had been picked off the tree and savoured by the surrounding communities, again showing the success of “lighter, quicker, cheaper” approaches to placemaking.
